Goodbye to MacKillop House Residence
It was with great regret that closure of MacKillop House as a residence for tertiary students was announced this week by Sr MaryEllen O’Donoghue rsj, Regional Leader for the NSW Region of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of the Sacred Heart.
After 30 years of serving the community with accommodation for young women engaged in tertiary studies in Canberra, the Sisters of Saint Joseph will close the doors to MacKillop House as a residence at the end of the 2019 academic year.
“While MacKillop House has been greatly appreciated by its residents, it has become increasingly difficult to maintain the service in a sustainable manner into the future”, Sr Mary Ellen said.
Accordingly, MacKillop House will not participate in the upcoming Canberra Tertiary Institutions Open Days in August 2019. The Sisters of Saint Joseph remain committed to empowering young women seeking to achieve their educational goals and wish each resident all the very best for the future.
The Sisters also expressed their deep appreciation to all who have supported the endeavour over so many years.
